update
Hello, first post in ages..
Been away from the bike, working on the website tho, which as you can see (If you’ve been here before) has grown a side column. Yet to be populated, I think the side column will be great for the future - single column layout was interesting, but somewhat limiting!
Bike wise still cleaning the carburetor rack, toying with idea of purchasing a Dremel tool. I think this would help speed up the de-rusting and general polishing tremendously.
Unfortunately - or fortunately since I’ve now decided on a different product, my Keyster carburetor rebuild kits are lost in the post. I’ve decided to go for Honda gaskets (without needles) likely from David Silver in UK.
I’m also looking at rebuilding the ‘between the gauges” instrument panel and the petrol tap I have with a kit from David Silver too.
How is the work going? I happened upon your site and I have a 1974 400 f ss and Im curently getting the carbs offso I can see if Ill have enough compression to justify the rebuild. so I think we would have many things to share. Best of luck and be in contact,
Matt

Hi,
The work is going veeeeerrrry slowly, unfortunately! Pressure of work has meant that the rebuild, and work on this site, has had to take a bit of a back-seat. We’ll get there eventually though!
One interesting discover this month though - have discovered that the 400/4 is possibly a 1975 model, and not a 1977 as originally thought. The bike was imported into the UK (in bits!) from California sometime in the late 1980s, and was subsequently given an (apparently) age-appropriate British registration mark (NFS 772T if you’re interested!! - ‘T’ reg corresponds to 1977/78 in the UK) and documents also stating that it was a 1977 model. However, I downloaded some strange and rather random Dutch handbook that lists all the VIN and engine numbers for Hondas going way back in time, and gives corresponding years of manufacture - according to this, mine is a 1975 vintage, which is cool!!
Anyway…good luck with your rebuild. Keep us posted on how you’re getting on, and please feel free to send a some piccies!!
